About the Incan Fantasy Name Generator
This Incan-inspired set can help you name a fictional mountain route and the people who maintain it. It is a creative collection with assigned glosses, not an authoritative Quechua vocabulary or a reconstruction of Inca naming.
Draw a settlement, a river crossing and a high pass. The practical task is to make each name help a traveler remember what happens there.
Put names on a route with a purpose
Wayra + rumi produces Wayrarumi, labelled "wind" and "stone." Use it for an exposed pass where travelers wait for the weather to change. Anta + mayu produces Antamayu, labelled "copper" and "river." Use it for the crossing below.
Write a two-sentence itinerary: where travelers stop, and what forces them to wait. The names should support those directions. They need not provide a complete explanation of the region's climate or history.
Give a person a different relationship to the landscape
Kori + killa produces Korikilla, labelled "gold" and "moon." Give this name to the crossing keeper rather than another location. Perhaps the keeper records night traffic while a relative handles the day shift.
Decide whether Korikilla was named after the crossing, a family member or something unrelated. Avoid turning every person into a literal description of their job. A name can stay the same when a person changes occupations.
Test the map as directions
Ask whether a reader can distinguish the pass, the river and the keeper after hearing the itinerary once. Add map symbols and a short role label where necessary; do not rely on unfamiliar sounds to carry every distinction.

Are these verified Incan names?
