About the Genasi Name Generator
Genasi are people with an element in their blood in many tabletop settings: fire, water, air or earth. This set groups its openers the same way, from Pyr- and Cind- for fire, Mar- and Ner- for water, Zeph- and Siv- for air to Bas- and Lith- for earth, joined to shared endings such as -ion, -ra and -en.
The glosses belong to this tool. Zeph is gale and -yn is wake, so Zephyn reads "Gale wake". Use it as the impression the character leaves behind, not as a word from an official elemental tongue.
Decide whether the element shows
Some genasi wear their element openly, and a fire genasi called Cindra (cinder + dancer) announces it with every introduction. Others keep it quiet, and a name from another element can be part of the disguise.
Pick one rule per character and stick to it. Players will notice the pattern, and the one time it breaks will mean something.
A family of four elements
In many settings, siblings can inherit different elements. Generate one name from each group for a single family: Magdor (magma + gift), Marisse (tide + song), Sivora (breeze + voice) and Teren (clay + born).
Give them one thing in common outside the name, such as a parent's trade or a shared scar, so the table reads them as a family despite four different sounds.
Too obvious is a choice
Pyros (flame + child) tells the players everything at once, which suits a brash fighter and spoils a mystery. If the element should be a reveal, give a fire genasi a watery name such as Halis (salt + pearl) and let the gloss mislead.
Either way, say the name aloud once before the session. Short forms such as Thunrik (thunder + caller) and Basax (basalt + breaker) are easy to shout; longer ones work better in letters and songs.
Inside the Genasi Name Set
Compare these invented constructions for your cast. Pick two similar names for related characters, then a contrasting one for a newcomer. The glosses belong to this tool, not an official fantasy language. Results can resemble names from existing fiction; they are not checked for rights or exclusivity.

Every Element in the Genasi Set
These are all the fragments this page combines. Choose a meaning you want first, then look for the opener and ending that carry it. The generator joins them with two spelling rules: a consonant repeated across the join is written once, and pairs that would put the same vowel twice at the join are left out.
